Mazda Motorsport victory in Showroom class

The factory prepared Mazda 3 MPS driven by Simon Evans has tasted victory at Targa High country in the showroom class. The husband and wife team showed the competition a clean pair of heals and finished a full three minutes ahead of the nearest competitor. Mazda RX8SP ready for Targa assault!

With the lessons learnt from Targa High Country, Mazda Motorsport has regrouped and now looks set for an extremely strong showing in the second round of the Australian tarmac rally championship, Targa Wrest Point heading out of Hobart on the 29^th January before shooting for outright victory against some extremely strong competition in one of the most prestigious tarmac rallies in the world, the Targa Tasmania in April.

Mazda RX8SP shows promise at targa High Country

Despite the RX-8 SP having just been recently completed in time for Targa High Country in Victoria last weekend  it showed solid speed during the prologue and there was cautious optimism amongst the team. During Saturday morning it seemed that this optimism was well-placed with Steve Glenney and Bernie Webb ripping through the first four stages, winning the third and putting the RX-8 SP into the outright lead by 3 seconds over Jim Richards’ Porsche 911 GT3 RS and 11 seconds over the leading Lamborghini Gallardo Super Leggera of Kevin Weeks.
